Update 6/25/04
News from the Bundrant
Clan!!
Well, we are out for summertime. Thank goodness!! Another year completed in
school. Daniel will be in the 8th grade at Liberty Hill MS and David will be
in 4th grade at Reeces Creek Elementary. Not much happened toward the end of
the year except that Daniel had a choir concert at Harker Heights HS. Grandad
was unable to make this concert due to injuring his ankle the night before.
We all hope his ankle is better soon. Daniel went to Academic UIL again this
year but did not place. This was the first year that the teams points were all
added together and made into one average. Even though Daniel did not place,
his scores still helped the 7th grade to win a medal. Daniel and David finished
with good grades and were promoted to the next grade level as usual.
Don's sister visited
us right after school was out. She stayed down here 3 weeks so we had a very
good visit with her and her three girls. We don't get to see them all that often,
so it was good to visit. We are thinking about going to New Mexico and Arizona
next summer, so if we do, we'll be seeing her and her family. She hopes to take
us to the Grand Canyon while we are there. We may even get to Disneyland next
year.
Now the big news!!! We
are taking our vacation starting July 9th. We are heading to Disney World with
the boys this summer. We are all very excited about this trip. The last time
I was there, I only saw the Disney theme park itself as none of the rest was
built yet. The boys have seen none of it so I'm hoping we can show them a really
good time in Florida. Wish us luck with that! We are also going to Vero Beach
to visit our last choir director, who moved down there 1 1/2 years ago. We are
excited about seeing them also. We dont' really have a time that we must rush
home but Don wants to be back at least by the Saturday before he has to go to
work. We will be at least gone until July 22nd.
Nothing has changed much with Don and me. He is still working with Sears. He's
having to travel down the San Angelo to help down there every once in a while,
which I don't mind as long as it doesn't get to be a regular thing. The three
weeks his sister was down here, he was gone 2 of them to San Angelo. I work
still at Liberty Hill MS. I'm working well with my new teacher and we work good
together as a team which is important. The ESL program that was in our room
last year is moving to Union Grove MS next year. That is the new middle school
opening up in the fall. We will be back to having our own room at school which
will be good.
I will try to include new pictures soon. I know we'll have more when we return
to Florida. Grandad, you need to add new school pictures that you have of the
boys. Our pictures are really outdated. Ha ha ha!!!!
Come visit soon —
Love,
Don, Laura, Daniel, and David

Update 9/22/03
Hello friends,
Just to update you on a few things that happened since our last update. I never
had the LASIK surgery that I was supposed to have because the doctor decided
that I had a condition with my eyes that would not be safe to do the surgery.
We all felt it was best not to do it, so I'm back to wearing glasses.
Daniel is not in the AVID program anymore. In order to take AVID, he had to
take Pre-AP math. He gave it a good go at it but he felt that the Pre-AP Math
was just getting too hard for him to understand and so did we. So, with
the score that he got on his math TAKS test last year, the program required
that he take Pre-AP math along with AVID. When he dropped Pre-AP math, he also
had to drop AVID. Now he is taking regular 7th grade math and enjoying taking
an Art class also. He is much happier with his new schedule and so are we. He's
not having so much homework every night and he's understanding the math alot
better.
Donald's grandfather passed away last week in Bastrop. He died of an apparent
heart attack. Please keep him and his family in your
prayers. We'll update you again as soon as some things come up. I believe
that isall that has changed in our family since we wrote last.
Update 7/29/03
Hi all!
We hadn't updated for a while now and so much is going on. Summer is just about
over and we will be into another school year. Daniel is 12 going on 13, very
quickly, and David is 8 going on 9. Daniel will be in the 7th grade at Liberty
Hill MS and David will be in 3rd grade at Clifton Park. They are still doing
many great things at their respective schools and continue to do well and make
good grades. Daniel will do a program this year called AVID (Advancement Via
Individual Determination). I can tell you more about that later, when we find
out more. They are growing up very quickly before our eyes and pretty soon Daniel
will be in high school and driving. Lord help us all!!!
We have had a fun summer-off so far, taking many trips to various amusement
parks. In June we went to San Antonio with Grandad and Marilyn for 2 days and
had a really good time watching the boys play around. Grandad and Marilyn said
they had a good time watching the boys and being with all of us, but I think
they were pretty worn out by the time we came home. We have pictures we will
share with you later as soon as I can get them to Grandad and maybe he can put
them on the website for all to see.
In July, we went to Houston to Astro World. These trips have all been due to
Grandad, who purchased all season passes to the Six Flags parks for the summer.
We have been taking advantage of this to make the cost worthwhile, and also
to have a lot of fun with the boys before we settle into another school year.
We went down to Austin, spent the night with Grandad and Marilyn, and were off
to Houston the next day. We had a blast riding the different rides there at
Astro World and watching the boys have fun too. Don and I hadn't been there
since high school, which was about 20 years ago if you can believe it. Don even
had his 20th reunion this year but at the last minute, we decided we wouldn't
go. I guess Don didn't want to be reminded on how OLD he is getting!!! Nah!!
Just kidding, Don. I can't talk because this is my 18th year out of high school.
Anyway, we stayed in Houston for two days having fun, and got back to Austin
late so we spent the night with Grandad on the way back through. This was all,
of course, in the middle of his getting ready for his big convention (TCDA).
Thanks a lot for letting us barge in on you and Marilyn in the middle of all
your work. We know we can always go to Austin and Dad will open up his house
to us anytime. We spent the night Friday night, and we got to go by Leslie and
David's house the next day to play around with Avery and Joseph. Boy!! Was that
a real treat! Avery and Joseph are growing up so quickly. I can't believe Joseph
is 4 months already, and Avery is starting kindergarten next year. We took pictures
of both of them while we were visiting and will share those on the website very
soon. Big David took Avery, Don, Daniel, and David on a treasure hunt near their
house where Avery brought back a pen to write with. I'll let David share the
details on what you do with that treasure hunt because I don't know all the
specifics. That left Leslie and me at the house with Joseph. Leslie was getting
Joseph ready to have pictures later that day, so she gave him a bath and got
him all ready. When we got ready to leave their house, Avery decided she wanted
to go to Killeen and visit with Mimi Johnnie so all of a sudden we were packing
her bag to travel to Killeen. She rode home with us that day and had a nice
visit with Mimi and all of us. Daniel, David, and Mimi took her back to her
Mom and Dad the next day. As soon as Daddy's convention is over, the boys are
going to spend the weekend with Dad and Marilyn on Aug. 8-10th. They are looking
forward to this and getting Grandad and Marilyn all to themselves. I suspect
they will have a lot of fun together and it will give Don and I a chance to
do some things together before I go back to school that next Monday. The boys
spend one weekend, usually, during the summer, to get some of that extra-special
time with just the grandparents around without Mom and Dad. I suspect that the
grandparents tend to spoil them a little bit and then give them back to the
parents after that.
I have many things to do yet before I go back to school. We have shopping to
do for the boys, as well as Mom. Maybe during that weekend the boys are gone,
we can do a little for me. On Aug. 14th, I will be doing something that will
hopefully change my life a great deal. I lost my glasses on the trip to San
Antonio in June. Through careful consideration, we have decided that I will
have LASIK eye surgery and I hope that this all works out for the best. It's
kinda scary to think that someone could mess around with your eyes like that
but I sure have heard a lot of successful stories about LASIK, and I hope that
I will not have to wear glasses anymore once this is accomplished. Of course,
this is happening the first week that I go back to school, but I will only have
to miss about 1 1/2 days. Meet the teacher night is the night of my surgery
and I would like to meet David's teacher this year, but we will see how it goes
and see how I feel after I get home. Good thing there is Dad to take things
over. I'm not used to totally being careful about what I do for several days
to a week after surgery. They say I will have to be really careful and not lift
things over 5-10 pounds because it creates a strain on the eye. I will totally
have to baby my eyes for a week or so after the surgery but hopefully after
it is over, I will see a great deal more. I found out that I'm neither near-sighted
or far-sighted. I just have an astigmatism that is pretty bad. They told me
I was a perfect candidate for LASIK. I'm looking forward to this very much.
Well that is about it for us now. Don is still continuing at Sears and I am
still with the school system. This is Don's 22nd year with Sears, which in itself
is an accomplishment. I am beginning my 9th year as a teacher's aide and still
love helping kids with Dyslexia. It doesn't pay much but it is a great feeling
knowing when you have helped a student accomplish something or learn something
that they didn't know before. We will write more later on as the school year
progresses.
More to come...............
Laura, Don and Family
Update 01/4/02
This is just a quick update to say that Daniel and David both made A/B Honor Roll for this 9-weeks period! We're very proud of them! And both celebrate their birthdays this month, David on the 20th, and Daniel on the 29th. Oh. And new pictures are coming as soon as Grandad can get it done.
Update 01-05-02
It's update time again. We are into another school year once again and we are all doing great.
Daniel is now in the 6th grade at Liberty Hill MS. He is doing wonderfully this year with grades, as well as being involved in a bunch of extra curricular activities. He is in the 6th grade Boys choir this year and we have already heard him in 2 concerts. Grandad and Marilyn joined us to hear his Christmas Concert and we all thought they did wonderful. Daniel, along with the other choir students, participated in Solo and Ensemble Contest back in November. Daniel received 3 1st Division medals.(2 for ensembles and 1 for a solo.) Way to go Daniel!!! Daniel participates in FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes), FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) He enjoys doing both of these groups very much. He helped sell candy canes with FCA this past Christmas. He has also been selected to participate in the UIL events this spring. (For Ready-Writing) They sold Liberty Cards this past fall and Daniel received $25.00 for being the 3rd place seller in the whole school. (We have about 900 students) Way to go!! Daniel made A/B honor roll the 1st 9 weeks. We are waiting report cards to come out sometime this week so we know whether he did equally well.
David is in the 2nd grade at Clifton Park Elementary and doing great too. David was on the A/B honor roll for the 1st 9 weeks. 2nd 9 weeks report cards will come out this week, so we'll see how he does. Hopefully he'll be on the A/B honor roll for the whole semester. He continues with practicing reading and we think he's improving constantly. David is hisown little person now and is developing his character everyday. He hasn't come up for any STAR awards yet, but we hope one will come in the near future. We have to wait and see what he does with grades to see if there will be an honor roll ceremony in his immediate future. He did sing with the 2nd graders during Christmas in their PTA program and did quite well. Mom and Dad got a new video camera for Christmas, (Thanks to Grandad and Marilyn and Jo and James) We have used it alot to film the kids programs already.
We had a marvelous time in Dallas over Christmas. Donald put in a new garbage disposal for Babbye while we were there. We visited lots and played with Haley. Laura used her new video camera alot and took pictures of everything. We had a bunch of other places to go at Christmas too and had equal fun. We did alot of traveling that first week we were off, but then got to relax alittle the 2nd week. (We traveled 900 miles approximately the week of Christmas and went to Dallas twice, Gonzales, Bastrop and then to Austin for New Year's.) We went to Daddy's house for New Years and got to visit with Dad and Marilyn, Paul and Karen, Colleen, Mike and Emily and Kayla and Babar too. We all had a marvelous time and Dad cooked out on the grill. (steak, ribs and chicken, yum!!) Thanks Dad and Marilyn for offering your house and cooking such a great meal.
Laura and Don are doing equally well. Laura went back to school today just for a workday. The kids go back tomorrow from Christmas break. I don't think any of us were ready for the break to end, but if we get going again, the school year will surely end as fast as the 1st Semester did. Laura is still working at Liberty Hill MS as a Dyslexia Aide. She received Employee of the Month way back at the beginning of the school year and received 4 free Arby Sandwhichs from Arbys, as well as having her name on the announcements. Don is doing good at Sears. He's working on his 22nd year and still going strong. He enjoys being a dad to Daniel and David and has fun with them every day.
More to Come later,
Update 2/4/02
Hi from the Bundrant Clan..
Sorry it's taken us so long to create another update for everyone. We have been busy with the end of the school year last year and our whole summer. Then came the start of another school year in August. Well, we are all doing just fine. Daniel is doing well in 5th grade at Clifton Park, and David is also doing very well in 1st grade. They both love thier teachers this year and have done very well as far as grades are concerned.
Daniel is back in choir and loves it. They have had performances already and sound great!! We just got 1st semester grades in a week or two ago, and Daniel has, once again, made all A's for the semster. WAY TO GO, DANIEL! He had a hard year last year and didn't make the honor roll once, I don't think. It's hard to believe that he'll be in middle school next year. He's going to his mom's school too. That will be interesting.
David is learning to read this year and has come far since the first of the year. He is reading just below grade level, but coming along quite nicely. His teacher, Mrs. Archer, says that she thinks he'll be on grade level by the end of the year for sure. David made the A/B honor roll for the semester. WOW, DAVID!! We are all proud of both of them for doing so well. Clifton Park does a "STAR" assembly every month. It stands for "Success Traits are Recognized'". They do traits such as kindness, citizenship, caring, fairness, etc. David was picked by his teacher for the trait "fairness." He got one last year for "citizenship" too. WAY TO GO!! Daniel got one last year for "caring."
Ok, now that I'm through bragging on my kid (for now), I'll let you know that Don and I are doing just fine too. I continue my work at Liberty Hill MS, with a super job and a great teacher to work with. It changed at the beginning of the year, if you remember. I've really had a fantastic year working with dyslexic kids. I just wish the job paid more. Aides in Killeen do not get paid what they are worth at all. Donald is working with Sears still for the 21st year in a row, I think (I know he's working for Sears, I think for 21 years!). That's an accomplishment. He has gotten a pay raise recently and will get another one in March.
Other news to report. We were in need of another car to drive around. Dad and Marilyn had given us Marilyn's Toyota as a second car, but then something happened with the primary car we were driving around and the Toyota became our primary car for awhile. Well, we didn't know how long the Toyota was going to hold out. No offense to Marilyn or Dad of any kind by that last statement. At Christmas last year, we were given Don's grandmother's car for a gift from his grandfather. Don's grandmother has not been living for awhile, and the car was sitting down at Don's grandfather's house for over a year. It's a Chrysler 5th Avenue. It rides really well and is still going to go for a while. A few weeks after that, Mom got a new car. She was selling her old car, and Dad graciously agreed to help us buy that car, so that we would have 2 good running cars to drive. (Mom's is a 1993 Dodge Dynasty.) Don just got the insurance and title changed over yesterday, so now it is ours too. Marilyn agreed to let us sell her brown Toyota Camry to help bring in money to put on our other car. THANKS, MARILYN.
One last thing. The boys just had thier birthdays in January. Daniel turned 11 and David turned 7. They had a blast at their birthday party this year because it was a bit different than what they normally do. Don and I took them to Dallas to go to the Medieval Times Restaurant. We had been in September and thought the boys would enjoy too. They did enjoy it alot and so did we. We were excited about it because Dad and Marilyn came along, too. It was the 6 of us all weekend and everyone really enjoyed the little mini vacation. We went to the Dallas Zoo the next day, and saw alot of relatives that looked like Donald. (Especially the monkeys) We found some Daniel and David look-alikes too. It was a great deal of fun and a different way to celebrate the boys birthdays than the traditional birthday party at Peter Pipers, or the skating rink.
Come to Killeen soon and see Babar and us,
Laura, Don, Daniel and David
"Always believe in yourself"
Update 5/3/01
Greetings to all from the Bundrant Clan!
Everything is going well here. We are winding down for the end of school now, and getting ready for summer. The boys are starting summer ball practice and will be playing before too long. Don and I have taken on coaching this year for David's team. (They asked us to do it because his team had no coach yet.) First year should prove to be very interesting for us and the kids, being that we know nothing about coaching.
A lot of you know already, if you have been keeping up with family news, that Babar is still in the hospital from her accident. This happened the Wednesday before Easter. She was taking trash out to the curb and took a fall outside. Thank goodness there were neighbors that heard her call out. They went beyond the call of duty and made sure Babar got back into the house and cared for her until I could get there and help her out more. I took her to the emergency room that night and she's been in the hospital ever since. She couldn't have possibly gotten up by herself (she broke both bones in both wrists), so I'm glad the neighbors' were there. She's doing much better now and will move out to Rosewood, a sileeed nursing facility, on Friday.
As far as other news, we've had alot happen in our family too. The most recent things are: Daniel and Laura being sick last week, my accident at school, and David's accident last weekend. Last week, there were two days that I was sick, just running fever (no other symptoms but the fever). I didn't visit with babar much last week for that reason. Daniel came home from school one day last week running fever, too. Maybe, just a passing bug?? Anyway, I was on lunchroom duty outside last week with the 8th graders, and a small group of kids were horse-playing and I got kneed in the stomach by one. I got the wind knocked out of me for sure. David and Daniel were playing tag last weekend and David took a fall and hit the ground. They were in the street, but they know not to do that anymore. David has 3 stitches just above the lip and right under the nose. Poor boy. His mom was in worse shape -- watching them stitch-up his lip -- than he was. He was a brave little boy while the doctor put the stitches in.
Well, enough about us. Please write and let us know how you are doing. We'll keep you posted on how Babar is doing, but I'm sure Dad, Marilyn, Don, and Shelly will, too. Plus numerous other people. I've been keeping her house safe and checking the mail everyday and going out as often as I can to visit her, but I'm sure she would love a call or card from anyone in her family. She does get incredibly bored having to be there for so long.
Wish us luck as we venture out with something new this year. (COACHING!) You all come see how we do and come watch the boys play!
Update 12/19/00
Hi from the Bundrant Clan!
Nothing much new to report here. Don, the boys, and I are doing
fine. The
boys and I have finished our 1st Semester of school and we are
all loving
being on Christmas break. The boys have had a very successful
1st semester
in school. They are still loving their teachers. We are waiting
for
report cards to come out still. They both had their Christmas
parties in
their classrooms last week. Daniel was sick on the last day of
school and
I was called to come get him, but then he went back to school
later on
because of not wanting to miss the party. David had a fun time
at his, also.
Don and I are still going strong. Don
is still working hard for Sears. He
also does work on the side for people he knows so this keeps him
very busy.
I am still at Liberty Hill MS. The teacher I worked with for 5
years has now retired, so when I return there will be a new teacher
that I will work with for the last half of the year. I have been
sick with a viral infection for over a month now and had to miss
numerous days of work, including a whole week in December. I'm
getting over it now, but my voice is still recovering. Keep me
in your prayers, please.
We look forward to seeing who we can in Dallas at Christmas. See ya then.
Laura, Don and boys
Update 9/12/00
Just wanted to let everyone know that David's teacher changed with us only being in school for 4 weeks. We had to say a sad good-bye to Mrs. Estes because of a low enrollment in kindergarten at Clifton Park. She was moved to another elementary school. David's class was dissolved and the students were moved into the other 2 kindergarten classes. David's new teacher's name is Mrs. Grushkus, but she is known to her students as "Mrs. Bunny". David made the transition very well and is at home with new teacher. Ask him to tell you about their pet bunny in the classroom. He loves it. Everything is going great.
Daniel is still enjoying his teacher and everything else is going great. We attend student conferences this week with both teachers and expect only to hear the best.
E-mail us. We'd love to hear from each of you. God bless.
Update 8/15/00
Hello friends and family,
Everything is fine here in Killeen. This year's big news is that we don't have to pay any more real daycare expenses. We are back in full swing as far as school is concerned, and it's going great.
The boys are both at Clifton Park Elementary and doing fine. Daniel is in 4th grade and loves his new teacher, a male teacher. First one Daniel has ever had, but he seems to be doing fine with him.
David has gone into Kindegarten this year and he acts like he's been going to school for years. He loves being at big school with Daniel and goes to Latch Key everyday with Daniel until mom comes to get them. The teacher that David has this year is really a funny situation. Daniel's 3rd Grade teacher from last year decided to move to Kindegarten this year and David has her. We were excited because we liked her so much and she was really excited to have parents that she already knew.
As far as Donald and I are concerned, we are still doing the same thing. I'm at Liberty Hill MS for another year and Don is at Sears. He's working on his 20th year! The teacher I work with will retire this year in December, so that will bring new challenges for me,as well as for the kids I work with, switching teachers in the middle of the year.
We shall see about getting to Bobbye's for Christmas this year. Unfortunately, with church, there are always many things we have to do. We are still singing in the choir and ringing handbells and there are usually Christmas Eve Services we have to be at church for. We'll see!
Love,
Laura, Don, and Boys
Update 5/29/00
Update from the Bundrant Clan!!
Well, we are all looking forward to the good ol' summertime. We just finished the school year (Daniel, David, and I). We have to say that we finished the school year with a bang. Daniel is considered to be a big 4th Grader now and David will be in Kindergarten at Daniel's school next year. He's very excited about going to big school with brother. Since our last update, we have had many events in our lives in which we would like to share.
I promise to share our pictures of our last vacation, if I can find the time to go have them developed. We went to NASA Space Center, San Jacinto Monument, Moody Gardens, and The Battleship Texas. The boys loved it and so did we.
Daniel took the TAAS test for the first time and passed both parts with flying colors. He took the Reading and Math portions of the TAAS test and received Academic Recognition for the Reading part (missing no problems on the reading test). On the Math part, he missed 3 problems. He did very well and we are very proud of him. He had his academic award ceremony last week and received AB Honor Roll for the 2nd Semester. His teacher expressed to us how proud of him she was also. We already knew how proud his parents, brother, grandparents, and aunts and uncles were of him.
David had been going to First Methodist Church DayCare Center and was involved in a graduation ceremony last Sunday, in church (May 21st). Grandad and Marilyn, Babar, Mimi Jo and Papa, and of course Mom and Dad, were all present to witness this wonderful event in David's life. He is a fully graduated member of the daycare center now and is ready to enter kindergarten next year. We are very proud of him. We feel that he will be ready to go to big school next year.
Don and I are doing the same thing as before. Don is working hard at Sears and I'm still at Liberty Hill MS. I personally was ready to spend the summer months with my kids, although I'm running them back and forth to baseball practices and games and with two kids, that gets hectic. David is in coach pitch and plays for the Braves. Daniel is in the Senior Midget Division and plays for TexStar Properties. They are both doing very well.
Hope this finds everyone well and let us know how you are doing.
Laura and Family
"Always believe in yourself"
Update 1/12/00
Everything is going very well for us. I hope everyone is having a fantastic start to the new Millennium 2000.
School is going great for all of us. Daniel brought his report card home for the 1st Semester and has done it once more. He made straight A's for the 2nd Nine Weeks and for the 1st Semester. Way to go Daniel!! He has also been at school everyday this year so far, so he will get a certificate for perfect attendance at the ceremony in February.
Donald is still working at Sears and I'm at Liberty Hill. Both of our jobs are still going great.
David is enjoying his friends at his new daycare. He no longer goes to Quality Time, but is back at First Methodist Child Development Center. We are so happy now because I know he gets the proper care there.
Daniel and David are fixing to be another year older. Daniel will be 9 on January 29th and David will be 5 on January 20th. Can you believe they are getting that old? I know we can't.
Keep in Touch with us and let us know how you all are doing.
Merry Christmas 1999!
We just wanted to take this time to wish everyone a very merry Christmas. We hope this will find all of you gathering with your families on this very special day.
Don and I have attended two very special Christmas Eve services tonight and enjoyed every minute of them. We also experienced the wonderful meaning of Christmas and what it is to be with friends and people you love. It was a very special night for us. Thanks to our wonderful pastor and music minister for making it extra special with all the wonderful music we had and the Christmas message that was delivered so well to all of us in the congregation. Our pastor always knows just what to say, and the music is always just so wonderful. Thanks to Don Peterson, Gary Kindley and Robert Flowers for making our Christmas just that more special to us.
Don and I are experiencing something tonight that we haven't in along time. We are childless on Christmas Eve. That hasn't happened to us in about 8-9 years. Our two children are up in Dallas with their grandfather having the time of their lives, probably. Don and I are getting to spend Christmas Eve together by ourselves and that's good, too. We will go to my mother's house tomorrow to spend Christmas Day with her, and our kids will be back around 12:00 noon. Then we will make a short trip to Gonzales on Sunday and be back by Sunday Evening.
Everyone have a wonderful and blessed
Christmas. Spend lots of time with the people that count -- your
family and friends -- because you never know when they won't be
around anymore. We love all of you very much and wish you all
a happy and healthy Christmas and New Year. God Bless each and
everyone of you.
Fourth of July
The Bundrants Four spent the 3rd of July in Bastrop and the 4th in Round Rock watching fireworks and skydivers, and eatin' watermelon, popcorn, funnel cakes, etc. Why? 'Cause Austin Symphonic Band (Marilyn's Past President and Danny's Business Manager) played for both events. The boys helped Grandad pass out free "I'm a Band Fan" fans -- they were popular!
The big news, though, was the headline in the "Bundrant Bugle" on the morning of the 4th. "Crazed deer commits suicide by running into family auto!" It happened on the drive back to Killeen Saturday night. Yep, it's a pretty big dent. Actually the deer was never found, and the Bundrants were not hurt, so there's a happy ending (well, not for the deer). But there is that #^(*)*^#^$@$%* deductible! But they're undaunted! Sunday they're going to Austin for a christening -- Avery will be the center of attention Sunday, and next Saturday for a wedding (guess who's keeping the kids).
Update: 5/27/99
Daniel's award ceremony was this morning. He received another certificate for the 4th nine weeks. He received AB Honor Roll for the 2nd Semester. He received A Honor Roll for the 1st Semester. He's done really well this year and brought his reading level up from 1st 6 month to 2nd Grade 7 or 8th month. I'm not sure which. But that's a whole year and several months in about 9 months time. He's right where he should be.
He plans to continue violin in 3rd Grade, too. He gets his report card tomorrow and I will let everyone know what the grades are. I'm sure he will be promoted to be a big 3rd Grader next year. David still has one more year in daycare before he will be a big kindegartener. Can you believe it. They are both doing great in baseball! Daniel's team won their first game the other night, and Daniel's run-in put us in the lead during the game and we were ahead all the way.
Update: 4/28/99
News here is baseball! Daniel is playing for the Rangers, and David, in his first baseball (well, T-ball) year, plays for The Stampede. On the scholastic front, Daniel is draggin' home A's on his spelling tests! Atta Boy, Daniel!
3/26/99 Daniel-
- Is doing a splendid job in 2nd Grade this year. All through the year he has had perfect attendance until just recently when he got sick and had to stay home for 2 days. He really didn't want to give up the perfect attendance but his teacher tells me they also give awards for faithful attendance, so he's sure to be in the running. Daniel has gotten very good grades this year so far. He received certificates at a special awards assembly for achieving All A-honor roll for the entire 1st semester. The 1st nine-weeks of the 2nd semester, he received All A-B honor roll award. Mom and Dad are certainly very proud of his accomplishments.
3/26/99 David-
- Is a very active 4 year old, who attends Quality Time Daycare everyday. He's learning to say more words, sing, and even practice writing his letters on paper already. We are equally proud of what David is doing in school and everywhere else. There's just not as much to say about him as Daniel, since he's not in school yet.
Daniel and David will both be playing ball this summer for the Parks and Recreation Dept. Daniel is a native to baseball and has been playing for several years. David is a different story. This will be David's first year at trying to play T-ball and we will see how that goes.
Daniel and David definitely keep Mom and Dad hopping and on their toes all the time. Not to mention Grandad, Marilyn, Johnnie, Uncle David, and Aunt Leslie.
3/20/99 Daniel & his Violin!
Daniel, age 8, just began violin at school (second grade). The string program is brand new in Killeen this semester. Grandad and Marilyn gave Daniel a 1/4-sized violin, and he's off to the races (Camptown?).
